Homecoming Queen and Court

The Homecoming Queen and Court selection process is a time-honored tradition that is overseen and managed by ASG. Every year, outstanding young ladies are nominated by an RSO in the hopes of not only acquiring one of the four Homecoming Court slots, but, being elected Homecoming Queen by their peers in a campus-wide election that occurs during Homecoming Week. In addition, five outstanding gentlemen are selected by a campus-wide committee and serve as escorts for the female members of the Homecoming Court.

The Chancellor’s Ball

A formal event for all University of Arkansas Students to enjoy, the Chancellor’s Ball is an evening filled with live music, a DJ, food, and fun. Entering its third year, the Chancellor’s Ball is held at the Fayetteville Town Center and provides students the opportunity to dress-up, come out and dance. The Ball also plays host to the announcing of the Homecoming Court.

Faculty Appreciation Banquet and Awards

In collaboration with Residents’ Interhall Congress, ASG honors outstanding faculty yearly. The FAB allows for students to nominate their professors for the honor, and from the nomination pool, three faculty are award the Outstanding Faculty Member Award at a banquet, attended by members of the university community.

Welcome Back Cookout

What better way to welcome back 26,000 Razorbacks then with a cookout? On the first day of school, ASG lights up the grill and cooks hotdogs for eager students, welcoming them back to campus and providing them information about ASG. This ‘all hands on deck’ program allows for ASG’s 200 members to engage with their peers, help grill, and create a welcoming environment for students.

Rollin’ with the Razorbacks

It doesn’t get bigger then SEC Football! In collaboration with Razorback Athletics, ASG hosts Rollin’ with the Razorbacks each year. This program takes up to 100 die-hard fans to an away football game to cheer on for the Hogs. Not only are students given a game ticket, but also a t-shirt, tailgate, and transportation are all provided!

Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial

Associated Student Government, in collaboration with the NWA MLK Planning Committee and the Division of Multicultural Affairs, honor the Civil Right leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., each year with the MLK Memorial. The Memorial brings inspirational speakers, music, slam poetry, and celebration that honors and reminds us of the struggles and accomplishments of Dr. King.

Family of the Year

Does your family bleed Razorback red? Do they support the University and the community? ASG in partnership with Parent Programs sponsors the Family of the Year. Now in its 18th year, students have the opportunity to nominate their family for this award. A university wide committee then selects the family, who are then honored with tickets to the Chancellor’s Box, a half-time presentation, and much more!

Inauguration

The election of the ASG Officers is an important event. We celebrate their elections and swearing-in at the annual ASG Inauguration. The President-Elect and officers are sworn in by the Chancellor. The National Anthem being sung, a video production of the outgoing officers, remarks by the Chancellor, entertainment, and of course, the Inaugural Address by the new President happen at the event. A reception and photos occur after.
