ASG General Election

No single event has a greater impact on ASG than the annual general election for President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Senate seats from every college. Over the course of three days students have the opportunity to cast their ballot online or in-person at the Office of Student Activities. The first day of voting also features the ASG Election Cookout hosted by the ASG Judiciary. Preceding the election are weeks of campaigning, including the ASG Election Debates – a series of three debates open to the entire student body.

Homecoming Queen and Court

The Homecoming Queen and King Court selection process is a time-honored tradition that is overseen and managed by ASG. Every year, outstanding students are nominated by an RSO in the hopes of not only acquiring one of spots on the court but also being elected Homecoming Queen or King by their peers in a campus-wide election that occurs during Homecoming Week. In 2016 this process was expanded to include the title of Homecoming King and a King’s Court.

The Chancellor’s Ball

A free, formal event for all University of Arkansas students to enjoy, the Chancellor’s Ball is an evening filled with music and dancing. Intended to serve as “everyone’s formal” the ball is held in the city of Fayetteville with shuttle transportation provided for free from campus to the ball. The Chancellor’s Ball also plays host to the announcing of the Homecoming Court.

Faculty Appreciation Banquet and Awards

In collaboration with the Student Alumni Association, ASG honors outstanding faculty each year. The award process allows for students to nominate their professors for the honor, and from the nomination pool, three faculty are award the Outstanding Faculty Member Award at the Faculty Appreciation Banquet, attended by members of the university community.

Welcome Back Cookout

What better way to welcome back 26,000+ Razorbacks then with a cookout? On the first day of school, ASG lights up the grill and cooks hotdogs for eager students, welcoming them back to campus and providing them information about ASG. This ‘all hands on deck’ program allows for ASG’s 200 agents to engage with their peers, help grill, and create a welcoming environment for students.

Rollin’ with the Razorbacks

It doesn’t get bigger then SEC Football! In collaboration with Razorback Athletics, ASG hosts Rollin’ with the Razorbacks each year. This program takes up to 100 die-hard fans to an away football game to cheer on for the Hogs. Not only are students given a game ticket, but also a t-shirt, tailgate, and transportation are all provided!

Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial

Associated Student Government, in collaboration with the Northwest Arkansas Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Council and the Black Students Association, honor the civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., each year with a vigil. The vigil features inspirational speakers and music to honor and remind us of the struggles and accomplishments of Dr. King. The vigil is held each year on Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Family of the Year

Does your family bleed Razorback red? Do they support the University and the community? ASG in partnership with New Student and Family Programs sponsors the Family of the Year. All students have the opportunity to nominate their family for this award. A university wide committee then selects the family, who are then honored with an on-field ceremony at the Razorback football game during Family Weekend, tickets to the game, and more!

Inauguration

Following the ASG General Election, we celebrate the start of the new ASG administration at the annual ASG Inauguration. Officiated by The Chancellor, the President-elect and the rest of the exec-elect, their appointees to the Executive Cabinet and Office of Financial Affairs Board, and the Senators-elect are all sworn in during the ceremony. After being sworn in, the new ASG Presidents gives their inaugural address. A reception and photos occur after.
